GriefShare

St. Luke’s support group meets weekly on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. OR 6:30 p.m. in room 102, you are welcome to join anytime.

After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives. But your grief continues and you feel alone. Often, friends and family want to help you, but don’t know how. That’s the reason for GriefShare. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. We understand how you feel because we’ve been in the same place. We will walk with you on the long path through grief towards healing and hope for the future. The program is nondenominational and features biblical concepts for healing from your grief. Walking With Jesus – A Small Group Spiritual Growth Opportunity

Take Hold of the Faith You Long For ~ Mondays 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. In Room 105.

Could Jesus be calling you to join the adventure?

My purpose in writing this is to invite you and encourage you to join the Walking with Jesus Small Group.  We meet on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in Room 105. The group is focused on experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus, which leads to a spiritual transformation that is truly part of God’s grace. Together we are seeking to have a growing personal relationship that results in allowing God to mold us into a vibrant and truly dedicated small group ministry, using the gifting the Spirit has given each of us.

If anyone understood the emotions one feels when separated from God, it was Peter. He denied knowing Jesus not once but three times, and as a rooster crowed, Peter recalled Jesus’ words to him earlier, “‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.’ And [Peter] went away, weeping bitterly” (Matthew 26:75). Can’t you just feel the depth of despair Peter must have felt? We all have failed Jesus in one way or another in our lives, and like Peter, we often feel similar despair.

The most surprising part to comprehend is that Jesus remained in Peter’s life. He didn’t say, “I’m through with you, Peter!” and then walk away. Jesus not only remained, he approached Peter, not in anger or condemnation but in forgiveness and grace to cover his actions. Jesus still does that today for each of us. Until one has really considered the amount of love required to take on our transgressions and transform them into forgiveness and healing, grace is only a word on a page. If not for the heartfelt examination of the love Christ has for us, grace is diluted to five letters and remains elusive from our grasp.

Will you take your stand in God’s grace today? Will you receive the love that is yours that he is waiting to give? His grace is enough to lead you toward your holy purpose and transform you — individually and as part of the ministry of the group. Prayerfully consider joining the Walking with Jesus Small Group to experience the spiritual adventure that Jesus has waiting for you.

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.   –Philippians 2:1-2 ESV

Relationship Small Group

Relationships: Growing…Changing…Ongoing…in Jesus and in Christ’s Body…Here…Now!

A Small Group Invitation

Jesus wants a personal relationship with each of us.  Jesus wants us to have a personal relationship with each other.

During the last 4 months, St. Luke’s has experienced the loss of several key persons who God gifted in leadership roles…Pastor Tim, Anne and Mark Tietsort, and most recently, Pastor Matthew, who will be leaving us shortly to pastor in Ohio.  We are left dealing with these changes both personally and corporately.  Change is happening…right here…right now.

God is on the move…nothing surprises Him…He is in control. He know exactly where He is leading us, how He will shape and grow us, and what His will is for St. Luke’s moving forward.  It can be an exciting time.  It can be an adventure.  God is our constant, “the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.”  He is who we must cling to and seek as He transforms us for the next chapter in our mission to serve Him, make Him known, and welcome others into His family.

We also have an enemy who wants to influence this time of transition in a negative and destructive way.  His goal is to scatter us in many different directions and distract us from seeking God’s leading and transformation to become the church He wants us to be.

Most of us probably want to share how we are feeling about the changing times we are facing and searching for our place as we grow more closely and deeply in the body of Christ.  Each of us has an amazing opportunity to be an integral member in the family of God at St. Luke’s while experiencing how God leads us and showers us with His truth, blessing, and vision.

We invite you to engage in this small group opportunity where we will meet as the early church did to pray, read scripture, share thoughts and feelings while seeking God’s leading, encouraging one another, and growing spiritually.  The Holy Spirit will lead us into the living hope God gives and filled with His grace,

“having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might.”  Ephesians 1:18-19

Join us: Beginning Wednesday, September 6th for either the AFTERNOON SESSION from 1:00 to 3:00 PM or for the EVENING SESSION from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in room 105.

Parents of Sunday school kids Group

Sundays during the children’s Sunday school hour 9:15 a.m. Room 105 (Starting September 10, 2023

Purpose 1: *Grow in our own personal relationship with God. *Grow in our relationship with other parents meeting at St. Luke’s.

Purpose 2: *Begin to understand the primary function of the Christian home – where we develop a closer relationship with God as parents. *Begin to teach our children to grow in their relationship with God.

The primary learning community in God’s eyes is the family. What role do the parents play in that purpose? Parents are the educators.

It’s absolutely necessary to talk about God within the family because God is the basis of true knowing – we cannot fully know anything without first understanding the existence, the character, and the plan of God.

The purpose of speaking to our children about God is for them to see:

  • How all of creation reflects His glory.
  • To develop an awe of God in their relationship.
  • To turn their attention to God and away from themselves.
